Julianna went to the doctor on July 8th for her 2 week check up. She weighed 8lbs 12oz and was 21" long. When she left the hospital she was 7lbs 12oz so she has gained 1lb and grew 1.5". She is a lightweight compared to some of our other babies! Julianna was very patient and happy until the doctor started pushing, prodding, and poking her. Then she let him have an earful. I cannot adequately describe her cry. You really need to hear it to fully appreciate it! When she is mad it is an ear piercing shrill scream. When she is feeling picked on and just generally sad her cry is very pathetic. It does not stay at the same pitch but progresses down two steps. It is more like a Waaa...haaa...haaa...ha. It is very sad, and when she breaks out that cry we call her the drama queen because it is quite a show and quite sad. Anyway, she pulled out all the stops and used all the variations of crying that she knows.
Camden was also having his 5 year old well check up at the same time as Julianna. Camden was very funny. He saw his friend come out of the doctor right as we were going in. His little friend was bawling, and Camden asked him what was wrong. When Camden learned that his friend had just had shots, Camden wasn't as excited about the doctor's visit after that. Camden was quite the trooper though through his one shot. Camden also is a very round little guy. He weighed about the same as his height! He is 42" and 44lbs. He is getting ready to grow and has really packed on the chub lately! We are just waiting for the growth spurt! Camden was very sensitive to his little sister's crying. He did not like to see her sad or hurt. She had to have her heel pricked for the newborn screening and Camden had to stand out in the hallway with his hands over his ears and his head against the wall. He was more upset by her heel prick than by his shot. Julianna was pretty upset by the heel prick as well. All three of the boys were so good during shots and any tests. They will cry at the instant of the prick but after that are perfectly fine. NOT Julianna. She was even nursing when they did the heel prick test and she cried the entire time they were squeezing her foot. She continued to cry the rest of the day!!
