So normally around here it is Braden who is the comic entertainment, but lately he has had a little competition. Camden is quickly becoming quite amusing. There were two that were side spliters for me today. The first occurred when Camden declared that he had a dirty ear. He ran off to the bathroom and came back with a Q-tip. As I'm frantically telling him that he isn't allowed to clean his own ears, he does just that--sticks the Q-tip in his ear to clean it. Now one of Camden's many nicknames is the wax man because he has ALWAYS had so much ear wax. It was no big surprise that when he pulled the Q-tip out of his ear he had captured some of that lovely ear wax. He gave it a sideways glance and then asked, "Is that poop?" No my child. Poop does not come out of your ear!

The second laughable occurrence was at church. Brent was trying to keep Camden entertained and reasonably quiet (the kid doesn't understand the concept of whispering) by showing him the pictures in his lesson manual. One picture that Camden came across was a picture of the Nauvoo temple. The picture was a side shot showing the row of circular windows along the side. Camden correctly identified the building as the temple and then added in "with all of the cannons." I just about burst out laughing. In fact, it was one of those that you try to cover up with the oh so fake coughing fit.
So our little marshmallow bum (another term of endearment for Camden) keeps us in stitches over here! Just take a look at how the two boys dressed themselves for church this morning. The picture doesn't quite show the detail. You can't see that Braden has missed about every other button on his shirt, and he only managed to get half of his shirt tucked in, and part of that was tucked into his underwear! Camden wouldn't leave the house without his tie, and he was adamant that he needed a vest as well as a suit coat. That would be a reasonable request if we lived in UT, but here in TX it was a balmy 75! Overall, they did a fairly reasonable job if you ask me. I would have allowed them to go like they were because they were so proud of themselves! Brent thought a little tidying up was in order, however.
So, Braden not wanting to be outdone by his brother this morning in the entertainment department came up to me and asked if he could get his school work done early so that he could earn some money (yes, I bribe my child to learn. wait, wait, I ReWarD him ;) ). I reminded Braden that it was Sunday and that I don't do school work on Sunday. I then asked him what he was saving up for. The last I had heard it was a Lego Star Wars Game for the Wii. A lofty goal never mind the fact that we don't have a Wii! Well this morning the response took me by surprise. "Well Mom, it isn't for a toy. I am saving up my money for when I'm a dad. I'm going to need it." Here I'm thinking that Braden is really thinking ahead and has turned a major corner in his little life. "When I'm the dad I'm going to have to buy things like fruits and vegetables" (once again astonishment on my part because Braden has always told us that he can't wait to be the dad so that he can eat all the ice cream he wants!) His list doesn't stop there: "Yes mom, I'm going to buy fruits and vegetables and guns and gunpowder and bullets and not a house. They are WAY too expensive. I'm going to have to make one of those myself so that I don't have to pay for it." As you can see, parents do have some influence over their children. Brent's love of weapons has been instilled in this young son and my cheapness! He is doomed for sure!
I don't know how many of you remember my facebook post from this week, but it went something like this: "Has anyone taken away every
And, one final picture of my one final little boy:

Keep an eye on Camden. Randy never learned to whisper, either. We are also constantly ridding our home from toys, but my kids have become so creative that I found myself telling them yesterday that creativity is not allowed this week!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I just had one of those little laugh-out-loud moments when you're sitting all alone in a room with your computer...oh well! I love the stories, they are so funny, sounds like Camden is definitely the comic relief!!! Glad you guys are doing well!!
