Surprise surprise. . . it snowed--a little--on Christmas Eve. It was wonderful to see a little of the stuff white Christmas' are made of in the great state of Texas. Doesn't happen too often! We had a few deliveries to make on Christmas Eve and so we all bundled up to make them. Dryden wasn't so sure what to think about it all. By the time we got home from our deliveries everyone was worn out. After a brief Christmas story reading the kids were all off to bed. And another miracle of miracles--they all went right to sleep! That doesn't happen very often!
The first one up Christmas morning was. . .can you guess. . . of course--Dryden! He was up around 6am and consequently Brent and I were too. The next to stagger in was Braden around 6:30, and he finally couldn't take it any mor

e and by 7 had everyone else up and ready to go. I was a little concerned as to how things would unfold Christmas morning as I was not nearly as organized and prepared as I normally am. I generally have everything down to an exact science. I have exactly the same amount of presents for everyone to open so that no one is left with more than another kid. I generally have all of the stocking things set aside and ready to go. Not this year. Santa didn't even have any candy to give the kids! I had also tried to cut back this year and not give the kids so much. I was tired of picking up toys--they have WAY too many. Christmas Eve I stopped to look under the tree and noticed that it was looking relatively bare compared to previous years. Too late now to do anything about it! Everything turned out really well, however. The kids were happy and grateful and the highlight of the day wasn't the new bike that Braden got or the Art Class that Allison is signed up for or the camera that Savanna would be getting--oh no. The best present that they told everyone about was an emergency light stick, flashlight, whistle combo! Pretty funny. The simple joys of an emergency flashlight. It is d

efinitely apropos that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!
We continued the family tradition of having Christmas dinner over in Fort Worth with Grandma Lee and the Andersons. It was wonderful to spend time with lov

ed ones. It was a very enjoyable day. It was full o

f love and gratitude for all of our blessings.
