| Alex and Savanna after their sparring matches |
State Championships was a good experience. It didn't last very long, but it was good for Savanna to go. It was held down in Austin, and Brent and the girls were up bright and early so that they could make it down there before the registration cut off at 10 am. The boys and I opted to stay home. I would have loved to have gone and seen Savanna fight, but I didn't think anyone would appreciate my constant need to pull over and throw up. Thankfully the boys and I had Dustin and Lindsay to entertain us...or more appropriately...to entertain the boys while I laid in bed!
Savanna ended up having two matches before she was eliminated. The second one was a close match and she almost won, but Savanna had been wounded and it made it difficult to keep sparring. She did an awesome job and we are very proud of her. I'm also very proud of Allison who was supportive and happy for her sister and never once complained that it wasn't fair that she wasn't going (even though she was kind of cheated out of it). What a wonderful example she has been!
I think that the girls enjoyed walking around the capitol building and grounds a lot more than the sparring match. And of course, ice cream was involved!
