The High Priest Group has been spotlighting a family from time to time, and I finally took the time to fill out the information sheet. I thought that both friends and family might find a few tidbits of information about us that is new to them. So, here is is:
Family Information
Family Members with age (young children), DOB and where they live if not at home:

We love to go hiking. We love to visit National Parks, and if you combine the two—hiking at a National Park—then we are in heaven!
Favorite Vacations (where and when):
Brent: Backpacking in Big Bend National Park in July of 2007.
Shauna: Enjoyed Big Bend but also really enjoyed our Cruise to Mexico in October of 2008. My favorite vacations from childhood were to the Oregon Coast.

We were married July 25, 1997--1 month after Brent returned home from his mission.

University of Nebraska at Omaha: attended there the year before his mission.
Idaho State University B.S. Economics with minor in English-2000 (transferred so he could marry me)
Baylor Law School: 2003 (still not sure how we ended up in Texas!)
Her:
BYU for one semester—that was enough for me!

Him: Lawyer but often referred to as a slave

Him: Anything historical or biographical or Anti-Police State
Her: 19th Century English Literature—with my favorite being The Count of Monte Cristo
Music You Enjoy:
Him: Working on perfecting that
Her: Just about anything-classical, country, contemporary
Hidden Talents:
Him: Brent has an amazing ability to be able to determine someone’s character within a very short time of knowing someone. He is also a lot more compassionate and charitable then what one might think. He also has a mighty fast draw.
Her: I am a pretty fair clown and have perfected the art of listening.
Book of Mormon Hero:

Her: Samuel the Lamanite and Abinadi
Service Project You Remember Most (What and When):
Him: A memorable service project occurred when Brent was a teenager. He drove a truck and was asked to help at a service project where his truck was required. He worked a very late shift the night before and wasn’t terribly excited about getting up early to attend the service project early that next morning. However, he did attend and although the service project itself wasn’t a memorable one, the experience itself was because Brent learned that in order to be useful in the kingdom we need to be 1. willing to help and also 2. prepared with the right tools. There are a lot of people who are willing and able to help but who don’t have the right tools or skills necessary to do so and there are a lot of people who have the right tools or skills but are unwilling to help. Both are necessary in order to build up the kingdom.
Her: The simple service projects of visiting the nursing homes have always been the most touching to me. The sweet residents who are simply starved for attention and who are so grateful and happy to have any sort of notice given to them always has made a profound impact on me. I have always been impressed by how this simple act of service is so richly and immediately rewarded.
Something unique about me/us:
When Brent and I were married we were polar opposites in just about everything—our choices of music, movies, activities. However, over the years we have learned to enjoy or at least tolerate one another’s activities. For instance, I have to say that I enjoy hiking despite all of its drawbacks—bugs, wild animals, reptiles, getting dirty and being exposed to the elements. Brent has learned to tolerate plays, the symphony, and the opera.
