As I'm sure everyone who has talked to Braden at all in the past three months knows all about his collection of pocket knives and multi-tools. If you are not up to date then here is a brief sum up:
- Santa brought everyone a small pocket knife for Christmas. (This was the beginning of the end).
- Braden was instantly hooked and saved up his money for The Micra. (The multi tool that I happened to receive for Christmas which I must say is pretty perfect for me.)
- This was not sufficient. At Cabella's on our vacation he purchased another small multi-tool.
- But, wait, Dad's multi-tool is WAY bigger and WAY cooler. Hence, Braden saved up (and with Grandpa Lee's help) was able to purchase The WAVE. Not quite as big as Dad's but pretty dang close.
And then the Great Tragedy occurred:
Yes, Braden was the victim of an unfortunate accident. . .While prying bee bee's from the wood his knife slipped and sliced his finger. This occurred with the offending Micra multi tool (IT Wasn't even the BIG boy!) Braden did a good job staying calm and applying pressure to his wound. He came and found me quickly and stood outside my bedroom door and asked very calmly and politely if he could come in. I could see that his finger was red and rushed him into the bathroom. Once I took over Braden released the pressure on his finger and blood started spewing everywhere! That's when Braden lost all control. He has a VERY low pain threshold. He had sliced his finger pretty good, but it wasn't deep enough that he needed stitches or anything. I rinsed it off and realized that it wasn't going to get any better without consistent applied pressure. So I wrapped his finger in a washcloth. Braden completely lost it at this point wanting me to let go of his finger because it hurt etc etc.
The sight of blood when I'm pregnant and prolonged standing combine to make me faint so Grandma took over the applying pressure while I cleaned blood out of the carpet. All of a sudden Braden starts going into shock over his sliced finger! He is cold and clammy and pale. He feels like throwing up. It was almost comical. Allison got him a bowl in which he drooled profusely and held an ice block to his forehead. All of this occurred after the bleeding had stopped! It was almost comical to watch how upset he was over his sliced finger.
We put neosporin on his wound and wrapped it in a bandaid. The kid then had to lie on the couch for the next 2 hours before he was completely recovered! But, what did he and Camden do once he felt better? You guessed it. They were back outside with their multi-tools to take on those pesky ants!
